God is trying to tell you something – it’s time to reawaken!

“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you” (Ephesians 5:14).

Has your reality ever been less than what you expected it to be?

When those times come, it’s easy to settle and make peace with the brokenness we think can’t be healed, the life that won’t get any better. But the lies that say, “This is your lot in life” and, “There’s no use trying anymore” are just that — lies!

During this challenging time in our world God put it on my heart not to be fearful but to welcome this time and acknowledge that it will lead us all to better.  He has ensured that we all have to be still.  To sit down and be still.  He has given us the “gift” of time, not that we asked for it, and slowed down some of our daily busyness.  Sure we have to work from home and help our kids with school which is a new normal but it’s not the same hustle and bustle we are used to.  Corporations, schools and restaurants are moving to digital everything to keep businesses and the education of our children going. Our weekends aren’t spent running from appointment to appointment, birthday parties, brunches, dinners etc.  We have been “ordered” to sit still.  We’ve had to even get creative with our workouts since gyms are closed.  So again we turn to online workouts or we move outside to run, walk and bike. In times like this it is natural for us to reflect on our lives, our priorities, our goals. While I don’t know how long this pandemic will last I do know that we will all be forever changed.  We can’t go back to the way things were because clearly they weren’t working right? Something was clearly broken. Similar to 9/11 life as we know it will be different. But in comparison to 9/11 this is not only affecting the USA.  This is global.  It is affecting all walks of life, races, ethnicities, political lines etc.  We are being forced to recognize that we are truly more alike than we are different. That we are our brother’s keeper.  The acts of kindness and compassion I see truly give me confidence in our society again.  That people actually do care about one another vs. the negative and cruel environment we’ve been in. People are anxious and panicked for a multitude of reasons.  Sickness, job layoffs, childcare issues, caregiver overload, failing businesses and the list goes on.  Corporate America is on center stage – the world is watching how our leaders are reacting to all of this and how they are treating employees and each other. This is where true integrity is either elevated, a shining star for all to see and emulate or where we fall from our pedestal head hanging. In my world, I hear His voice speaking clearly and He’s giving us the opportunity for a do-over.  The world is watching – will we rise to the occasion and take the necessary steps to focus on what truly matters or once this horrible virus is cleared will we jump right back into the frying pan.  We all have a choice and it will alter the trajectory of our lives and our children’s lives.  Let’s choose wisely.
